FTC Disclosure Rules
The FTC requires clear disclosure of affiliate relationships. You MUST disclose when you earn commissions.
- Use #ad or #affiliate in social posts
- Place disclosure before the 'more' button (first 2 lines)
- Disclosure must be clear and conspicuous
- Verbal disclosure required in video content
Walmart Creator Program Policies
Stay in good standing by following Walmart's guidelines:
- Only promote products available on Walmart.com
- Do not make false or misleading claims about products
- Avoid controversial, offensive, or harmful content
- Do not use trademarked terms in paid search ads
- Maintain accurate account information
Content Authenticity Rules
Build trust and stay compliant:
- Only recommend products you have used or researched
- Do not alter product images to misrepresent items
- Honor product pricing — don't quote false sale prices
- Respect copyright when using music and images
Platform-Specific Rules
Each platform has additional requirements:
- TikTok: Branded content toggle must be ON for paid/affiliate posts
- Instagram: Use 'Paid partnership' tag for branded content
- YouTube: Include affiliate disclosure in description and verbally
- Pinterest: Label as 'Paid partnership' when applicable
Consequences of Violations
Breaking these rules can result in:
- Removal from the Walmart Creator Program
- Forfeiture of unpaid commissions
- Account suspension on social platforms
- FTC fines for inadequate disclosures
